FIRST DEVI BHAJAN MELA

Hundreds of devotees came to the Divali Nagar Site to sing the praises of Devi from as early as 11:00AM. The first group to grace the stage was Pundit Christendath Angard and members of the Joyce Road Kali Mandir, followed by Shri Gyan Ramlogan & the Datta Kirtan Mandali featuring Shrimati Chandra Katwaroo. Pt. Bisram then took the stage, followed by Veejai Ramkissoon & SRS International Band. The bhajans kept on coming when Pt. Krishen Ramdeen and the RRDS Kirtan Aachaaryas took the stage. The Lion of Cumuto Uncle Sam Boodram, the Biraha Raja Naresh Timal, Ravi Jagroop and Pt. Veda Persad also gave their offering of songs. Around 6:00PM Taran Terence Sookbir and his group took the stage. From then on it was non stop singing, chanting, clapping and dancing for almost two hours. Terence sang his very popular song “Muni Muni” which was so well received he had to do it twice! To close the event, Hanuman Chalisa was chanted by Pundit Ganesh Maharaj, Pt. Anil Maraj, and Shri Gyan Ramlogan and the Epic Chantting Group. Pt. Ganesh then recited closing mantras to end the event. The Trinidad and Tobago Yatra committee would like to extend special thanks to the many pundits, singers, muscians, supporters, service providers and the radio stations that covered the live broadcast. All proceeds from this Bhajan Mala were used to fund the 4th Annual Kali Yatra Festival in August that year. Jai Maa Kali!
